Kimberly Gladden is a professional photographer serving the St Louis and St Charles area. She is a member of the Professional Photographer of America. Perfective Photography is also registered with the Secretary of State of Missouri as a local business since 2007. One of Kimberly's favorite parts about being a photographer is building relationships with her clients. She began her journey with photography at the age of 16 years by carrying a small point and shoot Kodak camera everywhere she traveled. She photographed people and places she saw. At the age of 23, she began working as an apprentice for established local photographers in the St. Louis area. Through this experience, she learned hands on about composition, creativity, posing, lighting and the use of photographing with a professional SLR camera. She was also encouraged to start her own photography business because she was told she had an eye and the talent to be successful. That year Kimberly decided to purchase her first digital SLR camera.
The photographic portrait is a thing beauty and when done well it’s a moment of revelation. Kimberly wanted to know about each person she photographed. She wanted to know what the picture they have in mind was. Some clients had a well defined idea, but most do not. She learned from my clients as the session progress. She learned more and translated what she learn into a portrait that captures that person's personality, quirks, essence. The successful portrait captures the true likeness of each person. That is her goal. She attends workshops and continues to better her abilities through education. The digital revolution in photography has change a lot about the medium but much of the fundamentals remain. Lighting, timing, patience and an attention to detail will always be essential.
When choosing a photographer, you're not just buying a service, you're investing in memories. Photography is both an art and science, beyond the skills that are necessary to shoot a camera. Professional photographers should be well equipped and have the understanding of how to use light both broad and sublime. Great photographers need an artistic eye and the ability to be creative under pressure. Kimberly has developed these visual senses and skills. Kimberly loves what they do and they have a passionate drive to capture every shot focusing on shooting the best shot possible. Kimberly is experienced to capture various styles of photography to meet your needs. She specializes in traditional and journalistic style wedding images and engagement photography.
